Now, that you are most likely seated on an online poker table playing texas holdem poker, you will be easier able to follow the rules of the game. At the beginning of each hand, a new person will be dealing cards. Because the computer deals in an online poker room, the person that would usually deal holds the yellow dealer button. This dealer button always moves clockwise to the next player sitting to the left of the previous dealer. When playing a hand, the two people sitting to the left of the dealer of that hand have to pay the blinds, which means that they have to put money into the pot before ever seeing any cards. The person to the immediate left pays the small blind, the person 2 to the left from the dealer pays the big blind.

Once the blinds are posted, the dealer gives everybody on the table 2 cards face down, which are cards that will be only used by the player. After the cards are dealt, the person to the left of the big blind (3 to the left of the dealer) has to decide if they want to participate in the hand. Should they want to participate in the hand, they will have to bet at least as much as the big blind has posted before the cards were dealt. After the first person has made their decision, everybody else's turn will come, going always clockwise, until the small blind can decide if they want to participate. Should they be wanting to play, they have to pay the difference between what he already posted and what the others have bet. The big blind then can either check if nobody raised in front of him, or call the additional bet from one of the other players, if one of them raised.
For example, in a 1/2 Texas Holdem Limit game, the small blind has to pay $0.50 and the big blind $1. Should the other players want to participate in the hand, they would have to pay at least $1 to see the community cards. Should one player think that he/she has a good hand, they might want to raise to get more money into the pot. If they raise to $2, everbody who wants to participate in this hand, also has to enter a total of $2 into the pot.

Once all the bets are made, 3 cards will be dealt face up in the middle of the table. These are community cards, and everybody is allowed to use them to make their best hand possible. After the community cards are dealt, another betting round takes place.

Next, a 4th community card is dealt face up in the middle, which may also be used by all players to make the best hand. Another betting round now takes place.

At the end, a 5th community card will be dealt face up into the middle of the table, which can again be used by everybody to make the best hand possible. After this is done, a last betting round takes place. After the betting round, everybody who is still in the hand, shows what they have and the person with the best hand according to the Hand Rankings wins the pot.
